On July 7, 2023, Professor Oya Beyan, the director of BI-K, and PhD candidate Julia Gehrmann actively participated in the one-day workshop titled 'Machine Learning and Medicine.' The event was jointly organized by the Center for Data and Simulation Science (CDS) and the Data-Driven Medical Research (DDMR) network at UKK and UzK, with the aim of fostering collaboration in the field of 'Machine Learning and Medicine' in Cologne. The workshop provided a platform for individual scientists to find experienced collaborators, enabling them to effectively utilize their resources and maximize scientific progress.

The workshop featured presentations from 10 departments, institutes, and research groups from the University of Cologne (UzK) and University Hospital Cologne (UKK), who shared their ongoing and future research projects related to 'Machine Learning and Medicine.' Each participant had a 5-minute elevator pitch followed by an interactive poster session, facilitating knowledge exchange and interaction among attendees. The event ended with a 90-minute discussion forum in which the 34 participants discussed the next steps in the cooperation.
